Work on Monday April 14^th

On our last work day, we split into three crews.

One group went to the home of New Orleans Police Department Officer Latrice Selder.  Some minor paint work needed to be done.   Soon, she will be able to move back into her home.

A second group worked on NOFD Capt. Keith Noya’s home.  This work included drywall and trim installation.

The final group went to the home of NOFD Public Information Officer Greg Davis to finish installing drywall, repair a garage door and opener, repair windows and install washer and dryer.

We have gone through a vast range of human emotions.

• Awe at the extent of the destruction.

• Surprise that after 2 ½ years, so much needs to be done.

• Amazement at the stories from NOFD firefighters about their experiences during and after the storm.

• Frustration at the minor role we’ve played.  It feels like we’ve put a band-aid on a massive injury.

• Gratification from the thanks we’ve received. 

• Relief that we’re going home.
